Sarah has been a potter for many years and has been very lucky to have a studio in the grounds of Stansted Park. She has her studio behind one of the glass houses which was originally used to store the fruit. It is a beautiful space known as The Fruit Room Studio and is attached to the Dutch garden.
Sarah is a retired art lecturer and after 17 years of full-time teaching is now able to work full time as a potter. She also runs workshops offering the experience of throwing on the potters wheel and decorating workshops. She gains her inspiration from the gardens and wildlife that surround the studio and has developed her own style of decoration using strong colour and abundant pattern.
The forest and all the plants, trees and animals that live in it have a strong influence on her life and work. She admires nature and relates to it on many levels. Sarah travels frequently and collects ideas and inspiration from other countries and cultures, which include India, Mexico and the Mediterranean countries. Her ceramic ware is decorative and functional and is great for decorating dinner tables and complimenting good food.
