Do you see faces in everyday things? Pareidolia: The imagined perception of a pattern or meaning where it does not actually exist. A phenomenon rarely heard of yet is so common that everyone has experienced it. Justin intuitively makes playful paintings that explore an abstract viewpoint in imagined city and landscapes, and whatever inhabits them. Some large, some small, all include tension, drama and friction created by shape, texture and colour. Figures and structures emerge to the spectator depending on their own personal involvement of life and its meanings, setting off their own Pareidolia; what they may want to see, or that which is suggested by their own interpretation of the world via the image before them. Justin lives and works in Arundel, and it’s his fourth year on the trail.
