Living and working for part of the year in an ancient olive grove in a hill town north of Rome, provides both inspiration and materials for David’s creative expression. Suitable prunings from the olive tree are kept for sculptures while the leaves are made into paper. Repeated geometric motifs draw on Etruscan frescoes, Roman and early medieval mosaics and these are explored both in the sculptures and olive leaf paper works. David explores abstraction through the rich layers of history that can be found in the surrounding buildings and landscape.
